Do you find yourself often spiralling into a vortex of worry and fear? Are you not getting the results you want? Are you only making your doubts about yourself stronger?

Then let me introduce to you, the ground-breaking book The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale.

It has quite possibly saved me SO MANY hours that I would have otherwise wasted worrying. And of course, it has helped me go through life with more ease instead of sweating with anxiety.

This book basically tells us that the root of success lies in our own minds and that by taking control of our thoughts, we can achieve anything we want. By mastering this one thing, you can become a person who’s not afraid of ANY circumstance.

Let me summarize the lessons of this book for you (although I highly recommend you read it yourself):

  1. There are so many people who have vast potential but do not get anywhere because of their inferiority complex. You must find out why you feel insecure and lack confidence, through introspection- just as a physician would look for the cause of your illness.
  2. Practice emptying your mind out. Don’t clutter your mind with negative thoughts and drain yourself. A still, peaceful mind holds a lot of power. Have at least one person you can open up to about your struggles.
  3. Your body responds to what the mind thinks. That’s why when athletes feel tired, they rely on their mental strength to get them through to the finish line. Imagine how powerful your mind is if it can convince your body that it can do more. Train your mind to have faith and it will reflect in your body too.
  4. Restore your inner harmony through prayer.
  5. DECIDE that you will be happy and work towards creating it. You are powerful and capable of choosing the life you want to live. So don’t waste energy being agitated.
  6. When you expect the worst, you’ll get the worst. When you expect the best, you’ll get the best.
  7. Don’t become a victim of worrying. Understand that for every problem there’s a solution. So don’t block your mind by being under stress. Relax, sit in silence and let the answers become more clear and visible.
